November 20, 2010 - Mr. Morningstar's 9th Visit
On November 20, 2010, Cabot Taekwon Do hosted its 9th Annual Technical Seminar at St. Kevin's Senior High School. Again this year Cabot Taekwon Do had the privilege of having Mr. Mike Morningstar lead us. Three of his students joined him on this occasion. Students of all levels and ages were in attendance. Starting with a vigorous warm-up, Mr. Morningstar set the pace for the day's events. Throughout the day students reviewed patterns, step sparring, self-defense, free sparring. At various points students were broken into groups and asked to practice moves that they had just been shown. During some kicking drills, a competition was brought on by some of the younger girls against a group of the younger boys. Both groups worked hard to gain the winners title. Mr. Morningstar joined many of the students by being either their self defense partner or their sparring partner, which of course they loved as they had Mr. Morningstar to themselves to help them one on one.
As a surprise to the students, Mr. Morningstar did a demonstration where he performed the pattern Moon Moo, did some step sparring, model sparring, and self defense. After asking one of the white belts for their belt, Mr. Morningstar proceed to set up board holders and tie the belt around his eyes, covering them. He then jumped and broke 5 boards in a jumping mid air kick. Further to this, Mr. Morningstar set up 5 more boards and broke them with a knife hand downward strike. The younger students were in awe and had Mr. Morningstar sign the boards he had broken.
After this the colour belt students were dismissed as the afternoon session was for black belts only. For the next few hours the black belts were able to focus their attention on the breakdown of patterns from Kwang Gae to Moon Moo.
This marked the 9th year, which is a significant number for Martial Artists, all the black belts joined Mr. Morningstar and his students for a special dinner, and had a very enjoyable evening of stories and laughter.
The next day was set up for some sightseeing where we took Mr. Morningstar and his students to Cabot Tower, then on to the most easterly point in North America, Cape Spear. From there we drove to scenic Petty Harbour. It was a cold day but worth the photos that were taken.

June 5, 2010 - ITF Can-Am Championships
On Saturday June 5th, 2005 the Can-Am Championships were held in Oakville hosted by Morningstar Taekwon-Do. The tournament featured competitors from 7 Provinces and 5 States.
Cabot TKD had 6 competitors at the event:

- Allison Winsor, 1st Degree Black Belt, Bronze (sparring)
- DJ Clarke, 1st Degree Black Belt, Bronze (sparring)
- Mary Clarke, 1st Degree Black Belt, Bronze (pattern)

- Evan Miller, Blue Stripe, Bronze (pattern)
Mr. Winsor was also in attendance as Coach and Center Referee.

May 29, 2010 - Black Belt Testing
On Saturday May 29th, 2010 Cabot Taekwon-Do promoted two new 1st Degree Black Belts, Mrs. Libby Williams and Mr. Norm Downey.
The Black belt testing consisted of 3 parts conducted by Mr. Rick Winsor, 4th Dan: Physical (23rd May), Written (24th May) and Practical (29th May). Mrs. Williams and Mr. Downey did an excellent job with all parts of the test.

May 13, 2010 - Congratulations
Mr. Winsor presented ITF Black Belt certificates to the following students in recognition of their recent promotions: Ms. Peggy Head for achieving her 3rd Dan, Ms. Ashley Williams for her 2nd Dan and Mr. Shane Williams for his 2nd Dan.
The students of Cabot Taekwon-Do would like to extend their congratulations to Ms. Head, Ms. Williams and Mr. Williams for accomplishing these incredible achievements.

February 4, 2010 - Black Belt Promotion
Cabot Taekwon-Do is pleased to announce the promotion of Ms. Peggy Head to III Degree Black belt. Ms. Head was promoted by the CTFI (Canadian Taekwon-Do Federation International) Technical Director, Master Pierre Laquerre VIII Degree Black Belt. Congratulations from everyone at Cabot Taekwon-Do.
January 21, 2010
Class Cancellation
As Mr. Winsor and many of the Assistant Instructors are attending Mr. Morningstar's Technical Seminar on January 30th in Oakville, class is cancelled for Sunday, January 31st.
As a result of this, there will be no Black Belt class this month, regular class will be held on January 27th.
Cabot Taekwon-Do wishes to extend best wishes to Ms. Peggy Head for a successful promotion to 3rd Dan. Ms. Head has completed the physical testing requirement making her eligible to be tested at the end of January. Ms. Head will be tested by Master Laquerre and Mr. Morningstar following the technical seminar in Oakville, Ontario on Saturday, January 30th.
